In a dramatic twist last night on the Gulder Ultimate Search reality adventure TV show, currently showing on national and cable networks across Africa, two contestants, a male and a female, were sent packing.

The female contestant, Rita Uloko, a 22 years old law undergraduate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) was pronounced “eliminated” from the camp of the Heroes in Awgu hills, Enugu, in the hectic quest for the “Lost Chronicle”. The male contestant, Brain Mokelu, a 26 years graduate of Geography from the University of Nigeria  Nsukka and the indefatigable custodian of the Totem, symbol of the heroes stay in Awgu hills, was evicted without notice later that day. He blinked during the day’s task and couldn’t come up with any solution to the word Puzzle on “HOUR GLASS” once discovered by Hector at the Ikoloba jungles, near the Nigeria Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR), Benin City, Edo state, now rediscovered in Awgu Hills like the other two treasures, Maxmillian helmet and the treasure chest  of past legends.

Rita has earlier been placed on the waiting list for eviction, along with Biola, for failing to successfully execute a task, the previous day. Biola attempted the task but threw in the towel half way while Rita made bold effort but fell off the bridge, constructed with a log of wood with her basket of palm kernels and sprained her knees. She ended up in the Doctor’s stable. A big party was ordered on her return at the camp.

Rita was subsequently eased out from the contest early the the following day while the presenter was silent on Biola.  “I am glad they took good care of you but I have bad news for you" he announced on arrival at the camp . "Rita, you fell badly during the other task. And you were given professional medical attention and you were comprehensively checked by our medical team.” Remarked the presenter, Bob. 
“Yes  sir” replied Rita.
“Do you think you can still live up to it?” asked Bob.
“Not really sir”. Said Rita.
“It goes in line with advice from our medical experts. They are of the opinion that with your physical condition, you cannot continue in the ultimate search. In order not to endanger your health further, which is of concern to all of us, therefore, and based on the advice from our professional medical team, you are hereby eliminated from the ultimate search. Pack your bag, there is an ambulance waiting right outside this camp to take you for further medical attention so that your health can be restored to what it used to be before you came to the GUS. You understand that?” asked Bob.
“Yes sir”. Replied Rita as she packed her bags and bade her co-contestant bye-bye amidst tears and long drawn faces.

Distance away from the camp, Rita was heard soliloquizing: “Because of my legs, I am not tired. I am not. Neither am I ready to leave. I am not. I came for fame and fortune. Anyway, health first….”

Shocked about her eviction, JJ exclaimed: “just to take my bath and come out, somebody is out”. Abigail cried profusely as big arguments broke up over suggestions that a one minute silence should be observed over her exit.

As for Brain, he was told straight to the face that his relevance in the ultimate search was hereby terminated. "You are evicted forth with from the ultimate search. Leave the camp right now, pack your things and go home.” Declared the presenter. His exit was greeted with deaf silence. Brain raced out of the place of the Talking Drum in compliance.

“This morning, you were ten. Then you became nine, and now you are eight”. Bob said finally.

THE TASK

There was a riddle they must solve before proceeding down the hills where eight baskets instead of nine with alphabets in them, was placed, since Rita was “eliminated" that morning. Brain was still in the race and one basket was deliberately omitted as a bumpy trap for the last contestant with the solution to the puzzle. Brain falls the victim. Those with solutions to the riddle went down the hill to collect alphabets to form their answers before the presenter. Brain found no basket and so, he did not form any letter word as answer. The correct answer was HOURGLASS which was later rediscovered by JJ. Brain was fired at the Place of the TALKING DRUM.

The suggested name for the Heroes camp-“Awgu Hills Camp” was disapproved and there was talks on the Hourglass. The episode was well loaded with lots of exciting moments and intrigues. The next episode today, is a must watch. Stay tuned.
