Food remains a major issue at the Pam-Boo Camp of the ongoing Gulder Ultimate Search (GUS) VI inside Omodo forest. Of course, the contestants returned from the Place of the Talking Drum disappointed. Chisom looks very upset with herself and everybody, particularly with Bob.
In frustration, she tries to incite her co-contestants to action at the Place of the Talking Drum if Show Host, Bob-Manuel Udokwu fails to give them food. “In case if they don’t give us food at the Place of the Talking Drum, we should just say something,” she charges.
If nothing, as leader of group A that won the day’s task, she thought Bob should have, at least rewarded her group with food instead of a bow and arrow. To say the least, Chisom, like many of the contestants, is frustrated. “This kain Ultimate Search, six days person never chop one meal. No be die?” she complained in pidgin.
Vivien turn her frustrations on the weather. “I no like this kain weather. Food no go dey, water go disturb person.”
Melvin understands when you test someone’s endurance of hunger with two days starvation, “But to go without food for three days, four days, five days… Ah!”
Debby simply cannot believe “I’m the one here.” |

As day breaks at Palm-Boo Camp, the food problem refused to go away. However, the gloom of last night had somehow disappeared. Contestants engage in small talks still hovering around their favourite subject – food. It’s wish upon wish. For some, people should stop dreaming and just wait for whatever comes. Elvis refused to engage himself in such wishful thinking. He does not see point in waiting for food that “may never come.”
Still, some, particularly Chisom, are very optimistic they will eat soon. Chisom, whose birthday is the day look forward to eating that day with an uncanny assurance. “I think I’m going to eat today. I have this strong hope that I’m not going to starve anymore because today is my birthday. I have this strong feeling that no matter what, I’m going to eat today,” she said. |

As they starve, birthday girl, Chisom decided to cheer her peers up. In a mock hosting of he colleagues to her birthday, she shared her water among the contestants. “This is my birthday gift to you,” she says
Some accepted the offer while others rejected it. For those who turned her down she has this: “Those of you who refused to drink this water will be evicted before me.”
Camp good girl, Oseyi lightens up after all, “the joy of the group work and the fact that it’s Chisom’s birthday, lifted me a little. For once, I forgot that I’ve not eaten for a while.” |

Before boredom sets in to compound the starvation in Palm-Boo Camp, Searchers quickly devise a past time to keep busy – sing. They quickly composed a tune around their Palm-Boo Camp abode and rehearse the song.
Vivien leads the choir as lead singer while others provided the back up chorus. It was a well composed song.
Wale says “It’s good to sing. It lifts the spirit for a hungry man.” Uche could not agree less, “It’s hunger that brought the inspiration for the song.” In fact, Uche already has a name for the singing band – “Palm-Boo Camp Band.”
They regret that Ada was no longer in camp to be a part of the band. Melvin wished she (Ada) could be brought back, if only for the purposes of the camp song. Wale wants the song dedicated to her, since she was already evicted from the camp before the inspiration of the song came.
ot want to give any group an advantage over the other, he excluded Debby from the task and gave her the role of an impartial spectator and cheerleader. |

At last the day’s task, brought a ray of hope as our starving contestants confront Bob-Manuel during the task.
Bob told them since they have been complaining about food, the Council of Elder have decided to provide for food them. But, they have to hunt for it. Hanging on tree branches were calabashes, and bag wraps which Bob said, “contain food items.” Each of the contestants is made to shoot the objects with arrows. You will only have the content of the object you hit for food. If two or more contestants hit the same object, they share the food content.
At the end of the task, Oseyi and Debby got the calabash they both struck, Wale got the Yellow calabash he hit and Melvin got the two bags he hit during the task.
Back in camp, they unveil their bounties and got plantain, yam and rice. |

Having won themselves some food after days of starvation, one expects our Searchers to cook and feed in one accord. This was not to be as all caution went to blazes during the cooking of the food.
Chisom and Debby almost went for each others’ jugular as they engage one another in heated argument over whether or not a piece of wood destined for the fire is wet.
Starving Melvin could not understand the point of the argument between the querulous women. He screamed at them: “Will you guys shut up and just make this food. I’, hungry!” |

The lunch had hardly settled when they discover an instruction to hurry to the Place of the Flat Rock for further clues at the point of the Watery Eyes. Another clue instructed them to follow a bush path from there to find the Tree of Destiny. The Search took them deep into the tropical jungle of Omodo forest and up the mountains in Search of Rock of the Guardian which turns out to be hunter’s hunting lamp. The discovery of the Hunter’s Lampo, many of the Searchers feel, takes them closer to the object they seek in Omodo forest – The Horn of Valour, |
